Instructions
 

  • Melt the unsalted butter in a heavy-bottom saucepan over medium heat.

  • Slowly pour in the milk while whisking rapidly and constantly to prevent clumps from forming.

  • Let the butter and flour cook together until a fragrant, nutty flavor emerges.
  • Additional flavors such as garlic or chili powder can be added for extra depth of flavor, if desired.
  • The finished parsley sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days but is not recommended for freezing.
  • When reheating, bring the sauce back to room temperature and whisk in a couple of tablespoons of milk until the desired consistency is achieved.
