Ingredients

  • 3 medium Onions
  • 1 cup Gram Flour Besan
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Granules
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

Instructions

  • Start by cutting the onions into thin strips. The thinner the slices, the crispier the bhajis will be.
  • In a bowl, mix together gram flour, salt, turmeric, cumin, garlic granules, and chili powder. This flavorful batter is the key to achieving the perfect bhaji.
  • Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring until you have a smooth and thick batter.
  • Coat the sliced onions with the batter, ensuring each onion strip is evenly coated. This will give your bhajis a deliciously crispy texture.
  • Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer. The oil should be hot enough to quickly fry the bhajis but not smoking.
  • Working in small batches, carefully drop the coated onion slices into the hot oil. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the bhajis from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
