Mac and cheese is a beloved classic comfort food dish that can be easily made at home. Whether you prefer a baked version with a crispy topping or a stovetop version, there are endless variations to suit different tastes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb macaroni
  • 4 cups sharp white cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 cups gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk until smooth.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, a little at a time, until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar, gruyere, and cream cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the cooked macaroni to the sauce and stir until well coated.
  • Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
