- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2-4 tablespoons milk
- Food coloring optional
In a stand mixer, cream the softened butter until fluffy and smooth.
In a separate bowl, sift the powdered sugar to remove any lumps.
Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar to the creamed butter, beating slowly until fully incorporated.
Add vanilla extract for flavor, and milk to achieve desired consistency. Beat until creamy.
Optionally, add food coloring and mix until desired shade is reached.
Your buttercream icing is ready to use!
