Making homemade donuts is a delightful and rewarding experience that allows you to indulge in sweet treats right in the comfort of your own kitchen.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g strong white bread flour
  • 60 g golden caster sugar
  • 15 g fresh yeast crumbled
  • 4 eggs
  • zest of half a lemon
  • 2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 125 g softened unsalted butter
  • about 2 liters of sunflower oil for deep-frying
  • caster sugar for tossing

Instructions
 

  • Mix the water, dough ingredients (except for the butter), and mix until the dough forms a ball.
  • Add the butter gradually and mix until the dough is glossy and elastic.
  • Let the dough rest and rise overnight in the fridge.
  • Shape the dough into 50g pieces and let them rise until doubled in size.
  • Fry the doughnuts until golden brown.
  • Toss the doughnuts in caster sugar for a sweet finish.
