  • 1 finely chopped Onion
  • 2 cloves minced Garlic
  • 2 peppers finely chopped Chipotles in adobo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Tamari
  • 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt and pepper To taste

  • In a large bowl, combine the black beans, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, chipotles, and adobo sauce. Add a splash of balsamic vinegar and tamari for an extra burst of flavor. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Mash the mixture with a fork or potato masher until it holds together but still has visible chunks of black beans. This texture adds a pleasing texture to the final patties.
  • Next, crack an egg into the mixture and add panko breadcrumbs. Gently fold everything together until well-combined. The egg helps bind the ingredients, while the breadcrumbs provide structure and help absorb excess moisture.

  • With clean hands, form the mixture into evenly-sized patties. The size can be adjusted based on personal preference.
  • Cook the black bean patties on a grill or in a skillet over medium heat. Allow them to char on the outside while becoming tender on the inside. This gives the burgers a satisfyingly smoky flavor.
